Astrid Lindgren's "Emil of Lönneberga" is one of the best children's books of all times in my opinion. That little rascal is so full of creativity and spirit, you just have to love him. In fact, the whole family is lovable. So alive, so human with flaws and strengths and so elegantly and tenderheartedly described by the author, that you feel you are there, among them, yourself.
